THE WHITE HOUSE PROJECT This on-line patch program is offered to all Girl Scout levels and focuses on learning about women in government by taking part in activities around the "Ms. President" patch program. This unique patch program, developed in conjunction with The White House Project, engages even the youngest Girl Scouts - Daisies and Brownies, who are 4 to 8 years old. Activities include learning the "herstory" of famous women leaders, finding out about leaders in their local communities, and working with others to bring about positive change in their neighborhoods. Older Girl Scouts, ages 11 to 17 will compare the roles of women leaders in the United States to those in other countries. They will also be encouraged to campaign for election to offices, to interview and write an essay on a particular female leader who inspires them, and to learn about the art of the political campaign. This patch program echoes the founding principles of Girl Scouting - character, conduct and community service. The first female President of the United States could be a former Girl Scout, or even more exciting, from our own Council!
