Team Challenge Course

Philosophy
“Challenge by Choice”- This is a philosophy, which allows the participants to push them selves only as far as they chose. All participants are strongly supported and encouraged to work through the challenge at hand. They are never forced or discouraged from choosing not to complete a challenge. Success is not measured by completing the challenge as much as attempting the challenge.
Ground Rules
These are some of the basic ground rules. Also, have your group help to come up with other ground rules that would be appropriate for them.
1. Safety--no room for goofing around.
2. Respect--treat others the way you would like to be treated.
3. Use only positive comments-if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all.
4. Communicate--this means to listen also.
5. Expect unfinished business--we can’t do it all.
6. One person talks at a time--use a talking stick if need be.
7. Take care of yourself, each other and the equipment.
Goals & Goal Setting
It is essential to set goals prior to doing any of the activities. The goal should be attainable and realistic. The Challenge Course Facilitator will help each group set their goals.
Briefing/Debriefing
Prior to starting an element the facilitator will present the challenge to the group. Then the group will discuss what and how they are going to approach the element. After finishing the elements the facilitator will discuss with the group all the pros and cons of the groups choices and decisions. What worked and what didn’t and what could have been done differently.
