Girl Scouts and their families will help with with our Gowanus Canal greening projects, including horticulture and composting activities. Girl Scouts will have a chance to see a working urban plant nursery and greenhouse as well as a community-based compost facility.
The day will include a cook-out, plant crafts, composting activity, and educator session. Plus, attendees will receive a special fun patch!
Participants should dress appropriate for the weather, with comfortable work clothing and closed toed shoes or work boots. Sunscreen and hats are advisable for warm days. Outerwear and shoes may get dirty, so participants should keep this in mind when choosing what to wear. The Conservancy will provide work gloves.
All participants must submit a signed waiver, and those participants under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Ages 9 and up.
