Lisa I. Cuevas
Woman of Distinction

Lisa I. Cuevas is the Director of Strategic Associate Programs at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP.  In that capacity, she is responsible for the oversight of associate relations, legal personnel, professional development of all associates, substantive training for all attorneys, and global diversity. 

Before being promoted to this position, Lisa served as the firm’s Global Diversity Director and worked closely with the Diversity Committee to promote programs and policies to foster compliance with Weil Gotshal’s Code of Conduct and the Workplace Environment and Diversity Policies.  She also worked with the Professional Relations Committee, the Professional Hiring Steering Committee and the Professional Development Committee on a variety of associate related initiatives and programs.  Lisa is a certified diversity trainer and coordinated and managed the Diversity and Inclusion Training for all attorneys and staff on a firm-wide basis.  In this role, she was also responsible for the firm’s U.S. and European Supplier Diversity Programs.

Prior to joining Weil Gotshal, Lisa served as Litigation Department Manager and Manager of Diversity at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.  Among her varied responsibilities, she assisted in the management of the Litigation Department, the Paralegal Department and the firm’s Staff Attorney Program.  As Manager of Diversity, Lisa coordinated the Mentor Program for minority associates, monitored charitable contributions and membership in diversity organizations, and planned annual diversity networking events.

Lisa is a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee to Enhance Diversity in the Profession and the Committee on Minorities in the Profession.  In 1989 she earned her B.A., phi beta kappa, from New York University.  She received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1993 and began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Bureau of the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office.
