Janet Scardino

Janet Scardino is President and Chief Marketing Officer for The Knot Inc., a leading lifestage media company. She recently joined the company, bringing with her a career that spans more than two decades of extensive expertise in building successful businesses and brands in the US and international markets. Much of Janet's strategy has been focused on pioneering development of new media models, building audiences in new markets, and driving advertising and subscription revenues.

An accomplished general manager and marketer, Janet has launched and operated multi-platform businesses for some of the world's most important media brands: MTV (Music Television), Disney, AOL, and Reuters. Last year, Janet led a cross-divisional initiative to develop new rich media content services for financial professionals.

In 2005, Janet joined Reuters as Global Head of Marketing. Under her leadership, Reuters underwent a major global brand reinvention, which was successfully rolled out across all divisions and recognized with prestigious BDA global design awards. In 2006, she was promoted to Managing Director of Reuters Media division where she was responsible for their consumer media services in the Americas and Europe.

From March 2001 to February 2003, Janet was part of the America Online division of AOL Time Warner as Senior Vice President of International Marketing, taking hold of all Brand and Acquisition Marketing for AOL's services in 16 countries. She developed a new brand identity and implemented a series of initiatives to drive profitable subscription growth.

Between 1998 and 2001, Janet was Managing Director for Disney Channel Italy, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. In her role, she launched and operated the premium pay channel, overseeing all aspects of its successful children's television and digital businesses, including the localization of the brand.

Prior to Disney, Janet held a number of senior positions in Marketing and Programming for MTV Networks, including Vice President of International Marketing. She was instrumental in launching several new channels that expanded MTV's reach to more than 100 million new homes and establishing MTV as one of the most well-known brands in the world.

Janet received her B.S. in Communications from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. She and her husband of 15 years live in New York City.
