David Ushery
Master of Ceremonies

David Ushery is co-anchor of "News 4 New York at 6PM" with Lynda Baquero (M-F 6-6:30 p.m.). He joined the station in August 2003. Most recently he was co-anchor of "Live at Five" and prior to that he served as anchor for ÒWeekend Today in New YorkÓ and the station's 6 and 11 p.m. weekend newscasts. In addition, he also filed reports for NBC 4's various weekday newscasts.

Ushery came to News 4 New York from WABC-TV where he held various anchoring and reporting positions throughout his 11-year tenure, including primary fill-in anchor on the station's evening newscasts and full-time anchor of the early morning and noon editions of "Eyewitness News." His many reports included extensive coverage following the September 11th terrorist attacks, reports from Toronto and Africa on Pope John Paul II's visits to those areas and coverage of the Space Shuttle disaster. He also reported extensively on Haiti, traveling several times to the island to cover the area's political and economic climate. Prior, Ushery served as reporter for WFSB-TV in Hartford, CT. He has also reported for the Hartford Courant and The Los Angeles Times.

Ushery is the recipient of a National Association of Black Journalists Award for a series of his reports on children and violence and was honored by the Israeli Consulate for his dedicated reporting and commitment to the community. Ushery also works as a volunteer at St. Charles Borromeo in Harlem and has volunteered as a tutor for local preteen students.

He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in journalism and political science. Ushery currently resides in Manhattan with his wife and son.
