Scholars Program

The Girl Scout Scholars Program, based at Long Island University/Brooklyn Campus (L.I.U), is open to 7th through 12th grade Girl Scouts from the five boroughs of New York City. Scholars gives girls the opportunity to broaden and diversify their exposure to career opportunities and higher education, while developing the intellectual and hands-on skills essential for the healthy development of today’s youth.

Scholars offer courses in academic and practical subjects taught by professionals from nonprofit and corporate backgrounds. Girls are grouped in Girl Scout Cadette and Girl Scout Senior and Ambassador levels and are given the opportunity to choose a track of three courses related to their interests. Each track provides girls with the opportunity to earn Interest Projects, Journey Awards, Certifications, or a certificate by completing course requirements and attending the program on a regular basis. Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors may also apply for scholarships. All Scholars participants receive the Girl Scout Scholars patch and a participation certificate.

The Scholars Program Fall 2010-2011 Semester will take place on four Saturdays between November 2010 and January 2011. The Girl Scout Scholars Program helps to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make their world and their communities a better place.
